Matthew 20:26-28 & 23:10-12: Called to be Servants

Matthew 20:26-28 & 23:10-12: Called to be Servants

In Matthew 20:26-28 & 23:10-12, Jesus makes it clear that His disciples are called to be servants.  We are not to think of ourselves better than others.  Even if we hold a position of authority, we still must have a heart to serve the needs of our fellow humans.

Jesus is the greatest of all, and yet even He came to serve.  He washed the feet of His disciples to show His love and compassion for them.

Even the powerful and wealthy are called to serve the poor, they should not consider themselves too good to get their hands dirty.

We can serve in person or over a computer, with monetary gifts or with your time, and just as important, serve by praying for others.

(Matthew 20:26-28) But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

(Matthew 23:10-12) Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
