Luke 22:31-32: Jesus prays for us!

Luke 22:31-32: Jesus prays for us!

This portion in Luke 22 is very rich. Verse 31 says, "And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat."

This shows that our lives/souls are being fought over by both sides of heaven and hell.  Be not deceived that Satan desires to steal every single human soul away from God's eternal Kingdom.

Ephesians 6:12 tells us, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

There is an ever-going-on war for our souls.  We must arm ourselves against this battle by reading scripture and keeping in contact with God daily in prayer.

The good news is that in verse 32, Jesus tells Peter, "But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren."

Romans 8:26 also beautifully states, "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."

It is so amazing to know He intercedes for us.  Jesus fights for us because He does not want anyone to go to hell.

(2 Peter 3:9) The Lord is... longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

He also desires our souls so we can be strong in our faith and minister to others.  With God on our side, we will win the war and devote our lives and souls to God for all eternity.
