Sweet water and bitter?
When I hear the same message from different preachers within the course of a week, I know God is trying to tell me something, so I had better pay attention! Because I do not want to keep the beautiful wealth of God to myself, I want to share with you what God has been speaking to me. I can say with all honesty, I have been humbled and I can see the Fruits of the Holy Spirit finally beginning to change me (Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24). I have felt more peace and joy this past week than I have in many years. I respect that God chooses to correct me so I can change and bring glory to His wonderful name (For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth. Hebrews 12:6).
James chapter 3 is full of wisdom and power. I will later share a blog my husband wrote about verses 1-12, but I want to focus on just verses 8-14 today (posted at the end of this writing). These verses in James show us how hypocritical it is to say you love God but cannot get over hateful feelings of another person. How can you praise God with beautiful songs but then five minutes later speak demeaning words about someone else. That is exactly like eating a luscious dessert and immediately swallowing a cup full of bile!
One of the sermons my husband and I watched that struck me to the core was from the late holiness preacher, David Wilkerson. He mentioned that when we live in bitterness and refuse to let go of the pains of our past, we are actively living in rebellion to God. I want to take his theme and expand on it a bit.
First, it broke my heart to think of rebelling against a holy God full of love, mercy, and grace. I really searched my heart and soul as I listened to Pastor Wilkerson's message as well as several other messages by other preachers last week. I began to repent and release all the anger and bitterness toward all the people that had hurt me in the past and more recently. As well as realizing I had bitterness over circumstances that had caused me deep sorrow. I prayed similar prayers before on several occasions, of course, but the bitter roots always seem to find their way back in my heart. They are sneaky and you do not always realize they are there again until you notice that your heart feels harder, and you become angry quicker. It truly is a daily choice to let go of anger and hurt and to pray for all those that have hurt you. (And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:23)
Another message we watched this week, Pastor Tim Dilena said that he and his wife have a specific list where they pray blessings over those who they struggle feeling bitter. (Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. Luke 6:28) I might say a quick prayer for people, but to take a little more time to pray for blessings really helps my heart and soul. It is difficult to feel hateful toward someone you are actively praying over before a Holy God!
I said I wanted to expand on Pastor Wilkerson's message. 1 John 2:9-11 very clearly states, "He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes." Very profound! We don't literally hate everyone we feel anger towards, of course, but as I stated above, bitter roots have a cunning way of growing and taking over your heart. The roots can even get so large they choke out your prayers and love for God. Satan is clever that way; he knows you will get so distracted in your hard feelings that you cannot find the time or desire to praise God.
My message today is simple, we cannot say we love God and hold on to grudges and anger. It truly does not matter what someone has done to you. God will judge (God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom. 2 Timothy 4:1), you just need to focus on you and obeying God by forgiving all, yes all who have wounded you and/or your loved ones (But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:15). That does not mean you are excusing the sin they have done, but you are being obedient to God and allowing your heart to heal and move on.
Being angry is not a sin, Ephesians 4:26 says, " Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath." In other words, God does not expect us to never be hurt or angry, but we are not to keep dwelling on the offense, but let God soften our heart as we forgive.
Once again, bitterness can center on a circumstance. Feeling angry about something that happened such as an accident, illness, loss of income, death of a loved one, etc. In that case, you are most likely feeling resentful toward God! When I realized this, I began to weep and begged God to forgive me for holding on to situations that still made my blood boil and heart scream in grief. God is so good, He will always forgive us when we repent. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Notice we must first confess. Psalm 103:11-12 promises, "For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us." Amen and hallelujah!
I have discovered that letting go of bitterness begins with the little things as soon as they start, the moment I start to feel irritated, I pray and ask the Holy Spirit not to let the anger or hurt grow but immediately pray for the person or situation.
I will end it with the words of Jesus' brother, James, as he says it so perfectly. Please pray over them and let them sink in. Repent of your sinful pride and hateful feelings, and ask the Holy Spirit to heal you from the inside out!
But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? ...so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. James 3:8-14

What does it mean to fear the Lord?
However, fearing the Lord is not simply just loving God. It is acknowledging that He holds our eternal fates in His hands. Hebrews 10:30-31 should be the basis for all decisions we make.
The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:30-31
Fearing the Lord means respecting His rules and realizing His love for us is why He put those rules in place to keep us safe, not because He is a cruel bully. We are not to fear Him as an abusive family member, but because He is the only one who will make the decision on whether or not we will go to Heaven or Hell. He wishes that none would ever go to Hell ([God] is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9) which is why He requires us to do as He (not man) commands.
When we think of all our choices as being observed by a Holy God, we should be in awe and fear. It should make us think twice before we pick up a piece of literature or watch a program full of witchcraft, violence, sexual perversions, and outright mock God and all the Bible stands for.
One of my favorite late preachers, Leonard Ravenhill used to put it this way (I am paraphrasing.), "When we stand before God on judgement day we won't simply say, 'Hey, buddy, thanks for the cross,' we will bow on our faces in fear and trembling." No matter how defiantly you choose to live your life, or arrogantly claim you don't need God, if you truly picture what Heaven will be like the moment you arrive (I am not speaking of all eternity full of bliss and joy, but your initial encounter with God) you will realize it will be very frightening as you relive all the sins you refused to repent of and all the rules you intentionally broke. Because God is unfathomably gracious and merciful, He will not remember those sins you asked His forgiveness for (notice how David uses the same theme of fearing the Lord):
For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. Psalm 103:11-13
At some point you have probably heard or read from the book of Proverbs that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge." Proverbs makes it clear that those who refuse to fear God and hate "wisdom and instruction" are "fools" (Proverbs 1:7). It goes on to say in Proverbs 8:13 "The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward [not willing to yield or comply with what is required of God] mouth, do I hate. " That one verse alone sums up all I am trying to say.
Proverbs also goes on to describe the fear of the Lord as finding "the knowledge of God" (2:5), "the knowledge of... holy understanding" (9:10), "a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death" (14:27). "tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil"(19:23). It also reminds us that we should not "envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the Lord all the day long" (23:17).
God is very loving, gracious, merciful, and forgiving. "We love him, because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19). Yes, we can have a close walk and friendship with God, but we must never treat God as casual as a human friend but respect Him as our Creator and Judge.
Just a few extra verses to think about:
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. Revelation 20:12-13
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom. II Timothy 4:4
As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: I Peter 1:14-17
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:7-8

How was I able to find a spiritual message while making dog bones?
In 2020, we rescued a white German Shepherd from a very irresponsible breeder. To keep a very long story much shorter, Sierra has not been the healthiest dog, and we have only just now figured out that food allergies may be what is contributing to her hair and weight loss. Because the commercially made foods for pets with allergies are way beyond our budget, I have begun cooking food for her and our other two dogs every day. Although we have seen some improvement in Sierra, she is still very skinny. Therefore, I decided to make her some high-protein dog bones to help supplement her diet. I researched what foods were best (and safest) for my dog to improve. I have a neurological condition that causes extreme fatigue, weakness, and pain, yet I was willing to stand on my feet for close to two hours making this special recipe I created and rolled out 113 dog bones! I didn't give up, but I kept going until all the bones were baked!
Wow, what commitment, right? Now maybe you are starting to understand how I became inspired to write this blog. While I worked hard researching, formulating, and executing the perfect recipe, I found myself doing some serious self-examination and asked myself if I put forth that much effort in my walk with the Lord.
2 Timothy 2:15 says, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." This means that God is very pleased with us when we study His Holy Word and learn what is right and wrong in the eyes of Jesus, not in the eyes of man. Just as I studied up on my dog's condition and what foods would be the most beneficial to her, it is even more important that I study all that God commands of me in my walk with Him in order to please Him. The more I read my Bible and know what it says, the more I will be able to be able to distinguish between the false teachers and the ones telling me exactly what the Bible says. I will be able to "divide the truth" from fiction.
Just as I wanted to know what was healthy for my dog, if I want to know what is healthy for my spiritual walk, one place to start is Galatians 5:19-25. It is a great list of what I should and should not do to stay thriving in the Lord. " Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."
As I chose not to give into my physical pain and fatigue while I rolled out and baked all those bones, I need to maintain vitality as a seek to walk down paths of righteousness. 2 Thessalonians 3:13 reminds me to "be not weary in well doing." With apathy, opposition, and even mocking words from others, it can be exhausting standing up for holiness. It can be tempting to give up. But God's Words encourage us to keep going strong for Him. He will be all the physical, emotional, mental, and especially spiritual strength we will ever need.
Just as I mentioned my dad in the beginning of his blog, I will end with a verse he loved to quote. Isaiah 40:29-31 were his favorite scripture verses and they very much apply here as a reminder that God will be our strength in all things, which especially includes working for the Lord: "He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Where will you build your house?
Matthew 7:24-29 (posted at the end) paints a picture of two different types of houses during a storm. It is clear Jesus was speaking of our spiritual lives. No one is exempt from the storms of life. We will all face hardships. It is during those life-changing moments when it matters most where you have chosen to build your house. Faith in Jesus Christ, the rock, is a wonderful start. If you are angry with God and refuse to cling to Him in your time of need, you are on shifting sand and are sure to wash away with the debris brought by the storm.
I want to take this theme a step farther from the lessons we were taught in Sunday School. (Remember the song, "The rains came down, and the floods came up," and doing the hand motions up and down?) For starters, many only call on Jesus and claim Him as their rock when the storms come. We need to go beyond the hard days and focus on every day! As I mentioned above, I felt the need to move and shift while standing in the waves to keep from falling. The waves of my analogy now represent temptation. Standing in shifting sand will not do you any good, you will still keep sinking as long as you stay put. You need to get out of the sand (move away from your sinful lifestyle) and get to Jesus the Rock!
The last time my hubby and I waded in the waves, another angle of this theme occurred to me. I can stand on all the rocks I want, but if I'm in the middle of the ocean when the waves hit, I will still be knocked over. You cannot simply stand on the rock; you must abide in the house on the rock. Does that make sense? In other words, you must remain grafted together with Jesus, you cannot make it on your own.
The best way we can remain in that safe house on the rock is by having a firm, solid faith and a sound doctrine. Just as we can choose to walk out the door of any house, we can choose to walk away from Jesus. If you do not pay your mortgage payment or rent, you could end up homeless. You need to keep living a clean life and ask for victory over habitual sins to keep abiding in Jesus. Do not walk away from the house on the rock and go to the house on the sand by believing you are eternally secure. That doctrine will wash you away with the incoming tide.
The book of Jude, written by one of Jesus' brothers, warns us that the grace message will be skewed and misrepresented, verses 3-4 say, "Dear friends, I’ve dropped everything to write you about this life of salvation that we have in common. I have to write insisting—begging!—that you fight with everything you have in you for this faith entrusted to us as a gift to guard and cherish. What has happened is that some people have infiltrated our ranks (our Scriptures warned us this would happen), who beneath their pious skin are shameless scoundrels. Their design is to replace the sheer grace of our God with sheer license—which means doing away with Jesus Christ, our one and only Master." (the Message version) Sadly, this is too true. People have exchanged the Truth of God's grace when we repent (the rock), for a lie that says grace is an excuse to sin without repenting (the sinking sand). This false teaching gives people "sheer license" to do whatever they want and never worry about the consequences. (What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Romans 6:1-2)
And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. Revelation 20:12
Think of it this way: When you have a job, do you just stay home, or do you go to work to earn a paycheck? Have you ever called your boss and said, "I really don't feel like working, can you do all my work for me and still give me a paycheck?" Of course not, you would be fired! Then why would you believe Jesus' righteousness alone is enough to join Him in Paradise? Do you really think Jesus will do all the work for you and still let you into His Kingdom? Even parents give their children jobs to do in order to earn an allowance. Yes, the love and grace of Jesus and salvation are absolutely free gifts. Jesus will never stop loving us (Romans 8:39) but we can lose our salvation when we treat it carelessly. We must work out our salvation with fear and trembling as it states in Philippians 2:12! We must stand on the rock of Truth to keep from toppling over when the waves hit.

Satan's Throne in your Home, Written by my Husband
Satan's Throne in your Home, Written by my Husband Mel
Most people are unaware that Satan has a throne in their home. Many people desire to be healed of sickness, delivered from demonic oppression or possession, or to hear from God, but they are being blocked. Quite often the programs that people watch on television are robbing them of God's blessings, as well as bringing demons into their homes. The television set is Satan's throne in most homes. The Lord showed me that music, video games, as well as television programs are blocking prayers from being answered, as well as keeping his children in bondage. Many Christians are receiving visions and dreams from familiar spirits, instead of the Lord because of the compromise of television. Throw out your television set and you will open yourself up to the blessings that God desires for his children.

A House Divided
You may think it was during the Civil War that Abraham Lincoln that coined the phrase, "A house divided against itself will fall", but Lincoln was quoting Luke 11:17. Jesus said these words after he had just cast out an evil spirit and had been accused of being demon-possessed (see Luke 11:14-20). Jesus was making the point that a demon would not and could not cast out one of its own. I am writing along these same lines, and yet a bit different. My lesson today is to show that one cannot serve God and something else that contradicts God's Word. If we try to serve Christ while worshipping something other than Christ, our heart becomes a house divided. We are certain to fall spiritually, emotionally and/or physically.
In Joshua 24, Joshua is challenging the Israelites to choose whom they will serve: the false gods or the True God. "Now fear the Lord and serve the Lord with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshipped... and serve the Lord... Choose for yourself this day whom will you serve... but as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:14-15 This is my challenge to you today as well. Will you throw away your false idols and serve the one True God?
One of the biggest idols in people's lives is money. Television evangelists are obsessed with it. They are not doing the Lord's work; they are heaping riches upon themselves while very little money goes to help the poor. Their messages are watered-down feel-good sermons that never make one uncomfortable because they want happy listeners to write big checks. If they told you the Truth that one must remain grafted in the vine (Jesus) lest they risk losing their salvation (see John 15:1-10), they would lose viewers who do not want to be condemned for their sins. More importantly, they would not be able to afford their material possessions. Why do they deceive the masses? Simple: money. They worship money, not God. There are a lot of verses in the bible warning about the love of money. Jesus clearly tells us, "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." Matthew 6:24 & Luke 16:13 Could it be more clear? If one loves money, he will hate God because God wants us to give money to the poor, not keep it all for ourselves. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a beautiful home, nice vehicle, nice clothes, etc.; God often blesses those that genuinely serve Him with wealth and the good things in life. The problem is not being wealthy, but when we ignore the needs of those literally and spiritually starving, we are not using that money to glorify God. When one compromises their beliefs or goes against the principals of the bible to earn that money, it is also an affront to God. (I am not just speaking of false evangelists, but also of people who embezzle, steal, run business that sell immoral products, cheat, etc.) I am currently far from wealthy, but if I was ever to obtain wealth, I would donate to charity before buying the things I wanted. Yes, I would also have some nice things, but materialism will never prevent me doing my best to honor God with a clean lifestyle, and I would still work for God. The balance is not to become obsessed with inanimate objects over people's souls.
When you worship money while attempting to serve God, your heart is divided between God and greed. Paul says it so much better than I do, so remember his words, not mine. In 1 Timothy 3, when Paul lists the qualities of a deacon, he says that he "must not [be] a lover of money." (verse 3) That goes for all wanting to be leaders but is also great advice for non-leaders as well. Paul goes on in 1 Timothy 6:9-10 to warn, "People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds if evil. Some people eager for money have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." And for those who are wealthy, Paul says in verse 17 of the same chapter, "Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth which is uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything."
Hebrews 13:5 says, "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have." And in 1 Peter 5:2, Peter says that the "shepherds of God's flock" should "not [be] greedy for money, but eager to serve." Additionally, Solomon, the wisest man that ever lived says in Ecclesiastes 5:10, "Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income." I would go on to add that loving God may cause you to feel like you can never be in His presence enough, and yet loving and serving God will always leave you satisfied.
Enough about money! There are other ways we serve the wrong master. Isaiah 5:2 warns," Woe to those who call evil good and good evil. Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness." For modern times I would say this warning is for those who call themselves Christians but have no problem watching or reading things that have to do with the occult. Jesus clearly says in John 8:12, "I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life." Just entertainment may be animated, that does not make it harmless. There is nothing innocent about witchcraft. It is no wonder so many of today's children raised in Christian families grow up confused and fall away from the Truth. When mommy and daddy say God is good and the devil is bad, but then watch movies and television shows glorifying hexes, spells, and curses, the children cannot quite figure out what is right and wrong, the lines get blurred and black and white turn grey. Dressing up like a witch or reading a book with magic in it right after going to church absolutely makes one's house divided, and it will surely topple and fall. I am not saying all children will grow up rebellious when raised in homes where the parents say worshipping the devil is detrimental, but then turn on Sleeping Beauty, Harry Potter, or even Star Wars, but they will be spiritually confused. Nightmares manifest for a reason. Watching or reading about characters in stories casting spells will bring evil spirits in your home. Period. The same goes for rock music and watching violent programs. (You can read a list of scriptures that show us how much God hates witchcraft here: https://thankful-julie.blogspot.com/2023/10/should-christians-celebrate-halloween.html )
There are many, many other idols and/or Godless principals we can follow that will divide us from God such as fame, physical pleasures (especially dangerous are those that harm others), other people, and even your own vanity, but I will leave off with just one more issue. You cannot serve God and religion. Think that did not make sense? I am not trying to insult any one's beliefs, but there are many into traditions rather than into God. Remember the blog I wrote a short while ago about placing God in a box? https://thankful-julie.blogspot.com/2024/07/dont-place-god-in-box.html Well, that's what I am talking about. When we serve the rituals, we are not serving God, we are serving the motions. When we worship a certain country or race of people that represent a religious belief, we are not honoring God. When we want to be just like Pastor, Priest, or Rabbi So-and-So or love any article that represents a certain religion, rather than focusing on wanting to be like Jesus, our heart is divided and we are not serving God, but man and/or manmade religion. When we love and serve the attributes of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, with a desire to imitate those characteristics, our hearts are in the right place.
Hopefully this all makes sense. I want to close by repeating my second paragraph. Please really think about it.

Dreams of the Unfaithful Bride, Written by my Husband
Dreams of the Unfaithful Bride, Written by my Husband, Mel
A number of years ago, the Lord showed me that many churches are an unfaithful bride, and he said, “Divorce.” The Lord made it very clear that spiritual unfaithfulness to Christ without true repentance, will lead to spiritual death (divorce). The Lord spoke to me in an audible voice and said, “I am warning my children to get out!” This word was followed by a dream. I dreamed that I was in a convenience store and that nothing worked right, the gas pumps, food machines, as well as everything else within the store was malfunctioning. I then noticed that the lid was off the drink machine, and it was almost empty; there were also three, half-eaten bags of Fritos in the drink. I said, “This is nasty,” I then removed the drink machine and put it in the trash outdoors. Then an older man walked into the store, and he said that nothing worked right. The angel of the Lord then answered him and said, “The authorities are on their way.” The Lord refers to the harlot church system of the end times as Mystery Babylon. Babylon is a term synonymous with wickedness (Revelation 18:4-5).
The convenience store in my dream was symbolic of the churches who are serving up spiritual junk food. The almost empty drink machine, with three half-eaten bags of Fritos in it, is the greasy grace doctrine (Grace without true repentance) taught by most churches. The gas pumps that do not work are symbolic of an unholy spirit, which has replaced God’s Holy Spirit. It is essential that we be filled with the Holy Spirit to have the power to live a faithful life to Christ. Working gas pumps are symbolic of churches that teach people the necessity of being filled with God's true Holy Spirit, as well as sound doctrine. It is time to come out of Babylon!
(Revelation 18:4-5) And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.
Dream of the four Harlots and the Holy Spirit
I had a dream of four harlots and the Holy Spirit. Babylon is a biblical term that means wickedness. We read of Mystery Babylon in Revelation 17 and 18. This is a reference to an adulterous or harlot church. Many people within modern day Christianity have not been taught to be filled with the Holy Spirit, or to crucify their old carnal nature.
I dreamed that there were four young adult girls wearing ankle length night gowns. They were running around in many directions and then each one stood still next to a gas pump. Four gas pumps with four girls. I woke from the dream as the Lord spoke the word "Babylon" to me four times. The interpretation is that the young girls were playing the harlot. They were running around in many directions, being tossed to and fro by many false doctrines of men. They were wearing night gowns meaning they were asleep to spiritual issues like holiness.
The church is the bride of Christ; however, many are not faithful to Christ. They have not allowed God's Holy Spirit to teach them to walk and bear good fruit. Mystery Babylon is the end time apostasy (Great Falling Away). When the church is indistinguishable from the sinful world they are not set apart. The gas pumps within the dream were symbolic of the need for Christians to be filled with the Holy Spirit which empowers them to live an overcoming life. The young harlot brides stopped running around playing the harlot, and stood Still, next to the gas pumps in order to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is essential for all believers. There are believers saved by Grace, who are Not filled with the Holy Spirit; however, it is God's will that they experience the fullness of his Spirit.
Come as you are to Christ, but don't stay that way. It is true that we are justified, saved, and sanctified by faith alone. Christ's finished work upon the cross paid our debts in full and his shed blood sanctified us and removed our shame and guilt! However, faith must be accompanied with repentance to be sincere. You must be born again to inherit eternal life with Christ.
Repentance means that you are not only sorry for your sins, but you are turning from your old sinful ways and pursuing God's ways (righteousness)! Without holiness no man shall see the Father. A dead, or lukewarm, church will be vomited out of God's mouth according to His Word. You cannot overcome your old nature, or bear good fruit, apart from God's Spirit. It is only possible to live an overcoming, or holy life, by surrendering your will to God and allowing the Holy Spirit to change you from the inside out. God gives us Grace to grow in Him. We come to Him as babes on milk and learn to walk by his Spirit.
You must abide in the vine (Jesus Christ). Scripture teaches us that to abide in Christ is to have love in our hearts toward God and others. To truly know Christ is to love one another and forgive others their trespasses, as Christ has forgiven us. We must give others grace to live in His grace. To walk in the Spirit is to live in God's freedom and no longer to be a slave to sin. Are you a new creation in Christ? Are you born again?
(Hebrews 12:12-16) Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
(Hebrews 13:20-21)Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
(Galatians 5:15-26) But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
